A New Shuttle Service
Now, there're little shuttle buses coming into my estate to ferry residents from my estate to a nearby MRT station. They come quite frequently, so I often hear the engines of the buses the whole day. My once peaceful estate, especially in the afternoons, are now punctuated with bus engine noises. It can be very irritating, as I'm used to the calm. I'm just very thankful they didn't put any bus-stops in front of my house! Haha.
The bus fare is a flat-rate fee of $1.15, which is very expensive, considering that the MRT station is not too far from my estate. Even old folks and students have to pay that price. No concessions for them. Therefore, up till now, not many people take it. Most of the time, when the buses go past my house, I don't see anyone in them, except for the driver. Occasionally, I can see at most, 2 passengers in the bus. Also, due to the poor response from the residents, instead of picking them up at bus-stops only, the buses also pick up residents waiting outside their houses. Haha! It's like your personal driver, only much cheaper. Now, whenever I feel bored, I'll wait for the buses to pass by my house and count how many people there are in each one. Sometimes, if I recognise a familiar face, I'll go, "Hey, that's XXX staying at YYY!"
Well, let's see how long this bus service will last. I'll give it at most, 3 months. Unless they reduce the bus fare, otherwise, they might have to call it quits soon.
