Jiri's Birthday Party

Last night, at about 7.30pm, my sis and I, together with 2 conservatory students, went to Mr. Jiri Heger's house for his 60th birthday party. There were already a handful of people there, and by 8.15pm, his house was already full of people. We met many nice people, such as the famous young-and-talented local conductor, Darrell Ang (photo below with moi):-

Mr. Dennis Lee and Mrs. Lee-Toh Chee Hung:-

Maestro Wang Ya Hui, SSO Principal violist Zhang Man Chin, Violinist Qian Zhou and YST Conservatory Director Dr. Steven Baxter:-

YST Conservatory Deputy Director Dr. Bernard Lanskey:-

Our very own world-renowned T'ang Quartet:-

Mr. David Mitchell, a music-crazed lawyer:-

and our birthday boy himself, Mr. Jiri Heger, SSO ex-Principal violist:-

Dinner was buffet style, and there were lots to eat and drink, not forgetting the delicious birthday cake. We had lots of fun, catching up with friends and photo-taking, and we really enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

We finally left for home at about 10.15pm, tired but happy. :P

Morning Exercise...

./oFor the past few days, I've been going for qigong at the Botanical Gardens, and I must say, the morning air and all the stretching and breathing are really great! I felt really refreshed after doing all the exercises. Below are some photos taken at the gardens before 8am...

Happy New Year! :)

We were still in the middle of our mahjong game, when we heard shouts of "Happy New Year" outside my cousin's room (we were playing in his aircon room). We were so engrossed in our game that we forgot about the arrival of 2007. We stopped our game and went out to wish everyone "Happy New Year", and we also went to my aunt's room to see fireworks from there. That's also the reason why we go to her place for countdown every year. Haha.

I took pictures and video of the fireworks with my new camera, and as I was leaning out the window to get a better view, my camera case dropped 13th floor down below. I gave a shout, and shocked everyone in the room, and they asked what happened. After telling them, some of us leaned out the window to look down, just in time to see my camera case floating down and disappearing into the dark. I was still in shock but I was very glad that it wasn't my camera that fell.

After borrowing a torchlight from my uncle, I rushed downstairs and searched for the case amongst the grass and bushes. I found nothing and guessed that someone must have found it and taken it. Just then, my cousin Wing Sheng and his wife, Irene, and another cousin, Bi Ru, came down also to help me look for it. Then Wing Sheng said that the case could have landed on the roof of the passers-by walkway. He climbed up to take a look and sure enough, my camera case was lying there. He finally got it down for me and I was very glad to have it back. After thanking Wing Sheng profusely, we went back up to my aunt's place.

We continued with our mahjong game and we finally ended at about 3am. I was the big winner with $18.70 in winnings. Haha. Then, we headed for home at about 3.20am.

I woke up at about 8am, and later in the day, went to Thomson Plaza with my sis and I bought a nice, denim camera case for my new camera from Popular bookstore (the case I was using before belonged to my Olympus digital camera).

In the afternoon, I spent hours transferring my contacts from my old phone to my new phone, as I was still not used to it. I managed to finish transferring all before bedtime. That was about 8hrs in total, including dinner and breaks in between. By then, my fingers were aching and a little numb.

Happy New Year everyone, and may we all have tons of peace, happiness and good health! :)
